This week, we are proud to partner with the YWCA’s Week Without Violence campaign during National Domestic Violence Awareness Month. This week and beyond, we continue to raise awareness around the barriers that gender-based violence poses to gender equality, and equip survivors to become advocates for themselves and their communities.
In the US, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 7 men experience violence at the hands of an intimate partner, and 1 in 5 women has been raped during their lifetime. Among many extreme, long-term impacts, it is estimated that 21%-60% of gender-based violence survivors lose their jobs for reasons related to abuse, costing the US economy between $5.8 billion and $12.6 billion every year.
This Take Action Tuesday, take action to eliminate gender-based violence and support survivors in your community.
