Today is Election Day! Elections are taking place in many states across the country, and you have an opportunity to participate in America’s democratic process by casting a vote for the local and state-level candidates who best represent you.
In “off-year elections”, when neither a presidential election or a midterm election is taking place, voter turnout is typically low. This means that your vote matters more than ever, as many state and local races are decided by very small margins. Find more election information for your city and state here!
This Take Action Tuesday, participate in America’s democracy and help to get out the vote!
- Check Your Ballot. Look up your sample ballot here, and know what to expect so you’re prepared walking into your polling place.
- Know Your Rights. Review your election rights and know who to contact if you have trouble accessing your ballot. In many states, employees have the right to take time off from work to vote. Check the “time off to vote” laws in your state.
- Get Out The Vote. Even if there aren’t elections happening in your city or state, you can still get out the vote by reminding friends and family to head to the polls. There are key statewide elections happening in states like Kentucky, Mississippi, and Virginia.
