Gretchen Carlson Leadership Initiative
in Columbia, SC
On May 19, 2018, AIT brought the Gretchen Carlson Leadership Initiative (GCLI) to Columbia, SC. We partnered with the Women’s Rights and Empowerment Network (WREN), a South Carolina-based network created to build a movement to advance the health, economic well-being, and rights of South Carolina’s women, girls, and their families.
Featured speakers included Assemblywoman Gilda Cobb-Hunter (South Carolina House of Representatives), Dr. Valerie Ekue (Director of Member Support and Community Justice, South Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault), Kayce Singletary (Community Education Director, Sexual Trauma Services of the Midlands), Ashley Thomas (Founder and Executive Director, The Hive Community Circle), and other extraordinary women leading change in Columbia and beyond. The panelists inspired attendees with stories of how they overcame hardship in order to make a difference in their communities, as well as actionable steps to take in order to get involved.
