Community Leadership Program Regional Summit

On February 23, 2019, AIT brought the Community Leadership Program (CLP) to St. Paul, MN. We partnered with Break the Silence, Centro Tyrone Guzman, Gender Justice, League of Women Voters of Minnesota, Minnesota Coalition Against Sexual Assault, Minnesota Coalition for Battered Women, Minnesota Council of Asian Pacific Minnesotans, Minnesota Latino Affairs Council, Minnesota Indian Affairs Council, Minnesota Indian Women’s Sexual Assault Coalition, Minnesota Women’s Consortium, Muslim and Jewish Women of Minnesota, National Council of Jewish Women of Minnesota, Reviving Sisterhood, Sewa-Aifw Inc., and Tubman.
Featured speakers included Senator Michelle Benson (District 31 and Deputy Majority Leader, Minnesota State Senate), Angela Conley (County Commissioner, Hennepin County District 4), Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan (Lieutenant Governor of Minnesota), Representative Heather Edelson (District 49A, Minnesota State House), and Katie Kottenbrock (LGBTQIA+ and Gender Equality Outreach Director, Office of U.S. Senator Tina Smith) and other extraordinary women leading change in St. Paul and beyond. The speakers inspired attendees with stories of how they overcame hardship in order to make a difference in their communities, as well as actionable steps to take in order to get involved.
