Holly is the Advocacy Director for the Women’s Fund of the Greater Cincinnati Foundation. At the Women’s Fund, she leads the organization’s public policy advocacy work as well as Appointed, an initiative that identifies opportunities for women to serve on civic boards and commissions, and empowers them to seek a seat at the table. Holly is focused on moving the needle on gender and racial equity, and advocating for women’s economic self-sufficiency.
Describe your experience participating in the Emerging Leaders Program.
The Emerging Leaders Program provided great tools and resources for advocacy trainings in a very accessible format. It expanded my capacity to provide this information to others, and I am currently using the AIT tools to plan a civic engagement training for women of color living in the Cincinnati area in early 2020.
What did you learn from the Capitol Hill Advocacy Day in Washington, DC?
Spending time in DC with AIT and Emerging Leaders from across the country was an incredible experience. Visiting with legislative offices on Capitol Hill provided a unique behind-the-scenes understanding of how our government works. It gave me concrete strategies on how to effectively advocate on national issues. I plan to share this experience with others in my community who are interested in advocating at the national level!
