Courtney Emerson is a Co-Founder and former Chief Operating Officer of All In Together (AIT). As inaugural COO, Courtney was responsible for strategy, programming, partnerships, and day-to-day operations.
Currently a Strategy Officer at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Courtney leads operational and strategic projects for the foundation’s Global Policy & Advocacy Division. Prior to joining the Gates Foundation, she was an Expert Engagement Manager with McKinsey & Company, where her projects focused on client transformation as well as culture & change, working with clients across a range of industries, including healthcare, consumer products, and technology. Before co-founding AIT, Courtney served as a Vice President at Coqual (formerly the Center for Talent Innovation), a global nonprofit think tank and advisory group that works to address bias and uncover barriers to advancement for underrepresented populations in the workplace.
Her book, After You Vote: A Woman’s Guide to Making an Impact, from Town Hall to Capitol Hill, was published in January 2021. Courtney’s writing on gender equity in politics has been featured in Refinery29, Thrive Global, The Hill, Huffington Post, and numerous other publications, and she has been a featured speaker at events including Oxford University’s Power Shift Summit, the DNC’s Women’s Leadership Forum, and at the YWCA of New York City.
She continues to serve on the AIT Leadership Board and chairs the Strategic Planning Committee. Courtney is also a Strategic Advisor to RepresentWomen, a nonpartisan nonprofit working to strengthen democracy by advancing reforms that break down barriers to ensure more women can run, win, serve and lead.
Courtney graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University with a degree in Politics. She currently lives in the Pacific Northwest with her husband and their dog, a Great-Pyrenees mix named Banana.
